Monthly status updates are amongst my favourite posts to read on other sites, and now that I’ve been writing consistently on my own for a month I’ve decided it’s high time I write one. I’ve never written a post like this before so would really appreciate feedback on what I can add / remove / change to improve the quality of these posts in the future. If you’ve got any suggestions for me do let me know in the comments below.
Blogging -Milking the Internet:
Although I’m mainly using this site as a way to keep myself motivated and help others by detailing my experiences I’m still keen to make it as big a success as possible. Success with a blog, at least in my eyes consists of traffic, and more importantly a regular and engaged audience. Here are my traffic results for my first month (7th Feb – 7th March):
The first thing you’ll notice is the nice spike of traffic I received when I first launched. This is nearly all from stumbleupon; rightly or wrongly I tend to submit most of my articles to the service, however to avoid spamming it gives a much greater weighting to articles from URLs you haven’t stumbled before. As this site was new I got a nice boost at launch, however as you probably know traffic from stumbleupon isn’t the best and certainly isn’t consistent so I can’t pretend to be too excited by it.
